How do I copy My Art Collection Professional collection files to my iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad via FileMaker Go?

My Art Collection Professional now has the ability to work with your collection file on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad using the Free FileMaker Go 18 app. Please download the FileMaker Go 18 app on each iOS device before continuing.

Transferring Files

Important: When you transfer a file to your device, you are creating a copy of the original file. Data changes made on your device are not synchronized to the original file, and vice versa. You will need to transfer the file back to the computer and use My Art Collection Professional to import data to the original file in order to update data. To do this use the File/Import from My Art Collection 2.0/3.0 feature.

Routine backups are strongly recommended for any document stored on a computer or iOS device.

There are several ways to transfer a file:
1. Connect the device to iTunes with a USB cable and transfer files on or off (see the steps below).
2. Send a MyArt.fmp12 file via email to your device's Mail app (on the iPhone, touch and hold on the file for a few seconds and then select Open in FileMaker Go from the menu that pops up).
3. Host a MyArt.fmp12 file on a web server (including personal web sharing), connect to it with your device's Safari app, and select it to transfer it to FileMaker Go.

In addition, other iPhone and iPad apps that support launch services might support FileMaker Go.

Important: Close a file before transferring it.

Notes:
Wait for any lengthy file operations to complete before closing a transferred file on your device. For example, if you tap the Home button when a progress dialog is being displayed, you will corrupt the file, making it difficult to open when you transfer it back to the desktop.
To transfer a file with container fields that store data externally to your device, you must first embed the container field data. To do this, in My Art Collection Professional, use the Save a Copy As command and choose "self-contained copy (single file)." Then transfer the copy.
Secure (encrypted) container field data is no longer encrypted after it has been embedded.
